MEET OUR VETERINARIANS

Lewis Watson, DVM

Dr. Watson graduated from Cornell University in 1956, and then worked in a mixed practice in Connecticut for one year. In 1957 he started his own mixed practice, currently known as North Country Veterinary Services, P.C.

Currently Dr. Watson works two days per week, primarily doing small animal surgery in Pulaski, and Scriba.  He is enjoying being able to spend more time with his family, which includes his wife, Antoinette; his four children, Lori, Jill, Christopher, and Kateri; Lori's husband Martin, and their two children Martin Jr. and Maquire: his three stepchildren, Tracey, Heather, and Michael; and Tracey's husband Jeff, and their two children, Taylor and Gino.

Dr. Watson's professional affiliations include The New York State Veterinary Medical Society, The American Veterinary Medical Association, and The Central New York Veterinary Medical Association.  In addition, he is a member of The Oswego County Health Committee; a board member for The Oswego County Humane Association; the vice-chairman for The Pulaski Fire Commission; a moderator at The Pulaski Baptist Church, a dispatcher at N.O.C.A.; and the chairman of The Pulaski Community Foundation.  Dr. Watson is also a former member and chairman of The State Board of Veterinary Medicine, and was a town councilman for The Town of Richland for 20 years.

Virginia Hoskins, DVM

Dr. Virginia Hoskins grew up on a small dairy farm in Lewis County.  She attended Veterinary Technical College at Canton ATC.  She then attended Cornell University as an undergraduate and also for Veterinary School.  Upon graduating from Cornell in 1995 she started working for NCVS. Her special interest is in dairy cattle although she does work in both of our small animal clinics as well. Dr. Hoskins, her husband Shawn, and son Jacob, live in Mexico, NY.

Jim Sprole, DVM

Dr. Jim Sprole grew up in Morris, a town in the Midwest along the Illinois River.  He completed his BS in Biology at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, MI in 1999.  Then, he worked as a herdsman in Valders, MI and obtained a technical diploma in Dairy Herd Management from Lakeshore Technical College.  At the University of Illinois he completed his DVM in May 2004 and started working at NCVS shortly after.  He was the vice president of the Production Medicine Club and received the Pfizer Animal Health Food Animal Scholarship.

His parents still reside in Morris, IL and his sister, Dorie, lives near Chicago with her husband, Steve.

He’s been named the Tug Hill Rookie by the farmers on the hill, so now his grip that he carries from farm to farm bears the letters T.H.R.  He is anxious to work with the dairy farmers of upstate New York and glad he moved to Pulaski.

Dr. Ariane Hamblin

Courtney Grandner, DVM

Dr. Courtney Grandner is from Port Jefferson Station, Long Island. She attended Cornell University, where she obtained both of her degrees- B.S. Animal Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Grandner’s parents continue to reside in Port Jefferson Station. She has siblings residing in Ithaca, Brooklyn, and Sydney, Australia! Her pet family consists of one chocolate lab, one cat, and one rabbit.

In her spare time Dr. Grandner enjoys photography; SCUBA diving; horseback riding; training her dog, Algae; and kayaking. Although Dr. Grandner has not been horseback riding since finishing veterinary school, she looks forward to pursuing this hobby once again.

Dr. Grander can be found working in both the Oswego and Pulaski offices, as well as evaluating large animal patients on the road. Dr. Grandner’s professional interests include aquatic medicine, soft tissue surgery, animal behavior and the human-animal bond, cytology, and clinical pathology.

Dr. Stambaugh lives in the Village of Pulaski with her fiance Noah, husky-mix Esmerelda, and three cats.  She also often opens her house to foster kittens in need of a good forever home.

Jessica Clark, DVM

Dr. Jessica Clark is from Arlington, Tennessee- a suburb of Memphis. She was a member of her local 4-H group throughout high school and enjoyed participating in local barrel races with her horses. She graduated from The University of Tennessee, Martin with a B.S. in Agriculture and continued her education at the University Of Tennessee College Of Veterinary Medicine. While attending veterinary school, Dr. Clark was an avid participant in extracurricular activities, including Vice President of the student AVMA chapter and activities co-coordinator for Alpha Psi. After graduating from veterinary school in 2007, she spent two years at the University of Idaho completing a food animal internship. Dr. Clark’s father and mother still reside in Tennessee, along with her younger sister, Whitney, who is completing a B.S. in Early Childhood Education at The University of Memphis.

Dr. Clark currently works in both of the small animal clinics and enjoys her time on the road seeing large animal patients as well. She is looking forward to interacting with all of the large animal (including small ruminant) clients and emphasizing the importance of routine health care, such as vaccination and dental care.
