North Country Veterinary Services welcomes you to our website!
North Country Veterinary Services is located in central New York southeast of Lake Ontario. Our offices are located on Route 11 just south of Pulaski, NY and on the intersection of Route 53 and Route 104 in Scriba, NY. We strive to provide high quality compassionate care while maintaining reasonable prices. Our offices boast state of the art equipment from digital radiography to in house laboratory equipment, and our veterinarians pursue continuing education opportunities providing progressive medicine to our patients.
In an effort to adhere to the call for social distancing and flattening the curve, we are postponing most of our well animal work in our companion animal services including equine. Our intent is not to cancel well animal work entirely, but to adjust our approach, scheduling, and staffing in order to limit human exposures as we provide preventive health care for our animals. The last thing we want to do is put our human clients at risk.
We are very concerned about our horses getting their vaccines. Rabies and encephalitis viruses (EEE, West Nile), tetanus, and Potomac Horse Fever are paramount to the health of our collective horse herd.
Since horse shows and gatherings are being cancelled and postponed, we believe our biggest pressure is to get yearly vaccines done by early to mid-summer for protection against the encephalitis viruses and Potomac Horse Fever which become a threat in late summer. We realize some will have extenuating circumstances. Please communicate with us about these issues and we will do the best we can to work with you. We are hopeful to offer appointments for vaccines and coggins testing in the near future for clients who are willing to allow a veterinarian and assistant handle their animals while they stay at a safe distance from us. These appointments will be offered first to clients who have had previous appointments for this work postponed. They will be made in small numbers on days when staffing is available. In this way we hope to provide for needed preventive care by mid-summer as well as continuing to service emergency and sick needs.
We ask your patience and understanding and welcome your thoughts and ideas as we work through these challenges. Remember, to keep your animals healthy, we need to help keep you healthy! To be able to supply you with emergency service, you need to help us stay healthy!
