Dr. Jim Sprole grew up in Morris, a town in the Midwest along the Illinois River.  He completed his BS in Biology at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, MI in 1999.  Then, he worked as a herdsman in Valders, WI, and obtained a technical diploma in Dairy Herd Management from Lakeshore Technical College.  At the University of Illinois, he completed his DVM in May 2004 and started working at NCVS shortly after.  He received the Pfizer Animal Health Food Animal Scholarship.

His parents still reside in Morris, IL, and his sister, Dorie, lives near Chicago with her husband, Steve.

His wife's name is Amy and he has two sons, Ryan and Callum.
